The series of weekly, weekend sessions (usually taking place at 10am) is the brainchild of local event organizer and PR guru, Alejandra Navarria who wanted to combine wellbeing with wine. A qualified yoga instructor herself, she wanted to promote the mutual benefits and balanced lifestyle of a yogi and wine lover. With a soft pace and relaxing vibe, the sessions are suitable for beginners as an introduction to both the yoga and wine lifestyle.
“I hope it is an innovative experience for everyone,” says Alejandra. “In the previous series we had 600 people come, often visiting these wineries for the first time and trying yoga for the first time too.”
Held in the vineyards or gardens of different wineries, the hour-long yoga session is an opportunity to enjoy Mendoza’s beautiful wine regions and find some peace and tranquility in the middle of the busy harvest season.
There’s a small donation fee for each session, which goes towards a charity focused on women’s health. The last series of Yoga por los Caminos del Vino raised $50,000 pesos for a local breast cancer charity helping disadvantaged communities. The idea behind which is to extend the wellbeing of the event beyond the yoga mat.
Of course being hosted by wineries, there is a wine tasting following the yoga session. Finishing your yoga session with a glass of wine is the ultimate way to say Namaste to your day!
